Maggie Carstens
Senior, Reardan High school
Club/Sport: Gymnastics @ Dynamic Athletic Center
Maggie Carstens is a Senior at Reardan High School. She has maintained a 3.8 cummulative GPA throughout high school, and carries a 3.9 GPA her Senior year, all while training 22 hours per week at Dynamic Gymnastics. She has been in gymnastics since age 4, and competing since the age of 5. Maggie is a Junior Olympic Level 10 athlete in 2020. She has qualified for Western Nationals the last 2 years. In 2019, Maggie placed 6th AA at the national competition and also placed 3rd on beam with a 9.5 and 9th on Floor. Maggie was able to complete a life long dream of competing as a level 10 this season before it suddenly came to an end due to the CoronaVirus.
Maggie drives tractor and bankout wagon during her family's grain harvest, and helps raise the livestock on the farm. She is a past member of the Reardan FFA chapter and Lincoln County 4-H, raising and showing swine, until her gymnastics competition season conflicted with livestock shows. She has been a Counselor at 4-H Camp Na-Bor-Lee for 4 years and has accumulated 437 hours of Community Service during high school. She is the VP of Reardan HS's FBLA chapter and a member of National Honor Society.
Maggie has been recruited to the Acrobatics & Tumbling team at Azusa Pacific University in Southern California for Fall 2020, on a partial academic scholarship, where she plans to study Biology.
